WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RENTAL ITEM AT PEP, AND WHY?
Rather than a rental item it is our Scene shop’s ability to build what we design. Our in-house designers are incredibly talented, professional and great to work with!
IF IT WAS YOUR BIRTHDAY PARTY, WHAT WOULD THE THEME BE, AND WHAT COLOR PALETTE AND PEP PROPS/DECOR WOULD YOU USE?
A marriage of 1970’s with mid-century modern and a splash of speakeasy for good measure!
TELL US YOUR BACKGROUND – WHAT’S YOUR STORY ABOUT GETTING INTO EVENTS, AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY & AT PEP?
I started early on in service as a waiter in upscale restaurants in San Francisco, transitioned to catering management and production. I was in banquet management opening a new W Hotel. Pacific Events was where I eventually landed. PEP allowed me to pull from my cornucopia of event experience.
TELL US ABOUT THE MOST UNIQUE EVENT THEME YOU’VE EVER WORKED ON.
I was once asked to bid on the design for the opening of an installation at the Museum of Modern Art San Francisco by the artist Yoko Ono. I was unfamiliar with her work and poured over a giant coffee table book of her many pieces; it was somewhat disturbing. I presented, won the bid, and did the installation with the catering company I was working with at the time. It was a bizarre and rewarding experience. I was told later the artist (and her son) were impressed.
WHAT’S THE HARDEST THING ABOUT EVENT PRODUCTION?
Falling in love with a design element in a proposal only to have it cut in the end.
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN WHEN NOT WORKING?
Dinner out or walking my pup in Balboa Park.
